Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment across all school grounds at all times
- Carry out regular cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance tasks as outlined in custodial duties, including trash removal
- Clean and sanitize blackboards, handrails, doors, and other frequently touched surfaces
- Replace burned-out light bulbs throughout the building
- Vacuum and mop all types of flooring as required
- Clean windows and disinfect restrooms used by students and staff
- Support cleaning efforts in the food service area
- Perform minor painting tasks as needed
- Set up and remove lunch tables in the multi-purpose room based on schedule
- Conduct basic repairs in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems
- Maintain the exterior appearance of the building, including parking areas, playgrounds, walkways, stairs, and landscaping
- Remove snow and ice from walkways and steps using shoveling, snow-blowing, and salting methods
- Buff and wax floors when necessary to maintain condition
- Prepare school spaces for special events such as meetings and open houses
- Ensure electronic security and emergency systems on campus are functioning correctly
- Notify school leadership of any property damage or deterioration to initiate repair or replacement plans
- Properly store, maintain, and manage all tools, supplies, and equipment used in daily operations
- Report to the school during emergency closures, including snow days, staff holidays, or utility outages, to inspect and secure the facility
- Promote a positive school climate by demonstrating professionalism in conduct and performance
- Align actions with the school’s core philosophy and mission in all activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors

- Must pass federal and state criminal background checks
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs
- Ability to use indoor and outdoor cleaning equipment
- Must report to work outside of school opening hours
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability
- Knowledge of cleaning up and disposal of hazardous and bio-hazardous materials
- Basic knowledge of simple electrical and plumbing repairs
- Willingness to accept training and apply learned skills
- Report to the school on snow days, staff holidays, or emergencies to inspect building safety
- Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards
