Alzheimer Society of Canada is hiring a Cultural Communities Navigator, South Asian Community Engagement, Client Services

About the Role

This role involves engaging with South Asian communities to provide support, resources, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's, with a focus on client services and community outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a bridge between the organization and South Asian communities, fostering relationships and trust.
  • Provide culturally sensitive support and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's.
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies tailored to the needs of South Asian communities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure culturally appropriate services and resources are available.
  • Organize and facilitate community events, workshops, and support groups.
  • Conduct outreach to community organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide education and training on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias to community members and professionals.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of South Asian communities affected by Alzheimer's.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of community engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan for community engagement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and resources related to Alzheimer's and dementia care.
  • Provide input and feedback on the development of culturally appropriate materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with other community navigators to share best practices and coordinate efforts.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Provide support and resources to individuals and families during the diagnostic process and beyond.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct outreach to South Asian communities to raise awareness about Alzheimer's and related dementias.
  • Provide culturally sensitive support and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's.
  • Develop and implement community engagement strategies tailored to the needs of South Asian communities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure culturally appropriate services and resources are available.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as social work, public health, or community development.
  • Fluency in one or more South Asian languages.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and populations.
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
  • Experience in program evaluation and data analysis.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans for community engagement.
  • Experience in working with individuals and families affected by chronic illnesses or disabilities.
  • Experience in providing culturally sensitive support and resources to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's.
  • Experience in advocating for the needs and rights of communities affected by Alzheimer's.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and documentation of community engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Experience in collaborating with internal teams to ensure culturally appropriate services and resources are available.
  • Experience in providing education and training on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias to community members and professionals.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in conducting outreach to raise awareness about Alzheimer's and related dementias.
  • Experience in representing the organization at community events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Experience in providing support and resources to individuals and families during the diagnostic process and beyond.
  • Experience in developing and implementing community engagement strategies tailored to the needs of specific communities.
  • Experience in staying up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and resources related to Alzheimer's and dementia care.
