Position Overview
Join a high-performance team at a remote mine construction site near Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut, where reliable operations are critical. The Crusher Operator will be responsible for running and maintaining a Metso mobile crusher and related plant components, ensuring consistent, safe, and efficient production in a challenging northern climate.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor mobile crushing and screening equipment, including Metso Lokotrack units, adjusting settings to maximize throughput and efficiency.
- Perform routine inspections, lubrication, screen replacements, and minor repairs on crushers, conveyors, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Relocate tracked machinery within quarries to improve operational efficiency and reduce haul distances.
- Monitor feed rates and material flow to prevent blockages and maintain steady production output.
- Complete daily production logs and equipment reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Report mechanical or operational issues promptly and assist in troubleshooting with supervisors and maintenance staff.
- Conduct pre-shift safety checks, maintain clean work areas, and follow lockout/tagout and PPE protocols rigorously.
- Support broader plant operations as needed, including material handling, light fabrication, and equipment operation.
- Collaborate with team members through clear verbal and written communication to support site objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of three years of direct experience operating mobile crushing equipment in mining or construction settings.
- Proven ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, wheel loaders, or skid steers used to feed crushers.
- Familiarity with crusher mechanics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and screening technology.
- Experience with Metso equipment is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work extended 12-hour shifts in extreme cold and remote conditions.
