About the Role
Lead and supervise a team of young individuals in completing outdoor conservation and maintenance tasks while fostering personal growth and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor a crew of youth participants during field operations
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper use of equipment
- Deliver training on job skills, work ethics, and environmental awareness
- Coordinate daily work activities in natural and urban outdoor settings
- Maintain accurate records of crew time, attendance, and progress
- Support conflict resolution and promote positive group dynamics
- Deliver feedback to participants on performance and development
- Transport crew members to and from work sites using company vehicles
- Ensure compliance with environmental and operational guidelines
- Respond to emergencies and implement incident reporting procedures
- Foster inclusive and respectful team culture
- Assist in planning and organizing project logistics
- Monitor tool and equipment condition and report maintenance needs
- Communicate regularly with program coordinators and stakeholders
- Promote punctuality, professionalism, and accountability
- Encourage community engagement and environmental responsibility
- Supervise trail maintenance, vegetation management, and clean-up tasks
- Model safe behavior and reinforce hazard awareness
- Adapt leadership approach to meet diverse learning needs
- Complete required documentation and submit reports on schedule
- Uphold program values related to youth development and sustainability
- Participate in pre-season training and orientation
- Manage crew behavior and enforce program policies
- Support participants in setting personal and professional goals
- Contribute to post-program evaluations and feedback processes
Compensation
Hourly wage commensurate with experience
Work Arrangement
Seasonal, full-time contract from July to August 2026

Program Details
- This is a 7-week summer employment opportunity running in July and August 2026
- Participants will be part of the Outland Youth Employment Program, which focuses on skill-building, leadership, and environmental stewardship
Work Environment
- Work is conducted outdoors in various weather conditions
- Sites may include parks, forests, trails, and urban green spaces
- Crews travel daily to different locations using company vehicles
Training and Support
- Pre-contract training provided covering safety, leadership, and program expectations
- Ongoing support from program coordinators throughout the season
