The Country Lead / Communications Manager, Turkey will lead communications and operations for Change.org in Turkey, reporting to the Associate Director of Communications. This role is responsible for identifying and amplifying high-impact citizen-driven campaigns across media, building relationships with key stakeholders, driving platform visibility, and managing legal and operational compliance in Turkey.
What You'll Do
- Identify, support, and drive the biggest people power campaign moments with strong reach and wide amplification across social and traditional media, centering petition starters.
- Increase awareness of Change.org and its campaigns among key audiences including media and decision-makers.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key journalists, influencers, decision makers, and partners to enhance campaign reach and long-term platform visibility.
- Lead Corporate Communications in Turkey to implement global strategy across owned and earned media.
- Collaborate with other functional leads to contribute to global brand strategy, department strategy, goals, and culture.
- Contribute to growth in platform activity in Turkey.
- Engage Change.org’s email audience with timely, impactful, and high-performing content.
- Maintain a campaign portfolio aligned with brand principles and reflecting ideological diversity to foster trust across audiences.
- Manage operational and legal needs in Turkey, including enforcing local entity compliance with local regulations and global policies.
- Manage the country budget and ensure correct budget and accounting execution.
What We're Looking For
- Extremely strong written and oral communication skills in Turkish and English.
- Experience writing press pitches, marketing emails, and social content.
- Existing connections with key journalists, influencers, civil society, officials, and politicians in Turkey.
- Strategic mindset with innovative ideas for using digital campaigning to power local and national campaigns.
- Willingness to work across differences and support policy-compliant campaigns even if personally disagreeing, in line with Change.org’s open platform mission.
- Deep understanding of diverse audience segments and their needs in Turkey.
- Demonstrates strong autonomy by proactively identifying opportunities, taking ownership, and driving projects to completion with minimal supervision.
- Uses insight, performance data, and AI tools to plan, pitch, and adapt for maximum impact.
- Building systems and tools such as testing frameworks or lightweight automations to improve team quality and efficiency.
- Proven ability to recruit, build, and lead high-performing teams with clarity, inspiration, and care.
- 12+ years of experience across one or more of the following: media, comms, brand, public relations, campaigning.
- 3+ years of experience managing social media channels for a brand, company, or organization.
- 3+ years of management experience managing a team of at least 2 persons.
- English proficiency (Minimum B2).
