Responsibilities
- Directing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, aiming for a 7-day completion.
- Creating a monthly financial report for management and the board, including detailed variance analysis and financial performance metrics.
- Acting as the main point of contact for annual audits and tax compliance.
- Supervising a team of 6-8 individuals across various financial functions.
- Overseeing the intricate client billing process, including fee-based retainers, project milestones, and media pass-throughs.
- Managing and automating recurring billing cycles, ensuring accurate mid-month adjustments and usage-based charges.
- Ensuring contract compliance by reviewing client agreements to align billing with revenue recognition standards.
- Developing and implementing a collections strategy, leading the order-to-cash process, and maintaining a healthy days sales outstanding (DSO).
- Supervising the procure-to-pay workflow, ensuring all vendor costs are accurately vetted and coded.
- Managing the sequential liability process to ensure accurate payments to media vendors upon receipt of client funds.
- Overseeing the corporate credit card program and employee expense reimbursement platform, ensuring compliance with travel policies.
- Optimizing working capital by securing favorable vendor payment terms and efficient accounts payable processes.
- Establishing and maintaining the company’s capitalization policy in accordance with accounting standards.
- Implementing and overseeing a time-tracking system to differentiate between capitalizable and non-capitalizable hours.
- Managing documentation, reporting, and impairment testing to ensure the accuracy of capitalized costs.
- Designing and enforcing a control environment to prevent fraud and ensure data integrity across the business platform.
- Optimizing the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to automate data flow between the customer relations manager (CRM) and the general ledger.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
- Expert knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ASC 606.
- Advanced proficiency in mid-to-enterprise tier ERPs and Excel modeling.
- Experience managing and automating finance and accounting processes.
- Background in professional services, technology, or SaaS companies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects to successful outcomes.
- Clear communicator who can effectively partner across finance and non-finance teams.
