Black & Veatch is looking for a Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities for a conventional power generation project. You will be responsible for mobilizing to the project site in Harriman, TN for the duration of the work, with initial onboarding in Overland Park, KS.
What You'll Do
- Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule and monitor contract requirements.
- Implement the Project Construction Execution Plan and direct field staff in daily and weekly planning.
- Supervise and mentor all superintendents, providing leadership and monitoring their activities.
- Monitor and report on construction productivity and schedule performance.
- Take necessary actions to meet project budget and schedule requirements.
- Direct and approve the development of construction schedule recovery plans.
- Coordinate Construction Completion Walkdowns and the handover of start-up packages.
- Supervise the closeout of all punch list items and assist with client interface.
- Coordinate with the Material Manager to review procured materials and approve equipment rentals.
- Conduct weekly coordination, staff, and subcontractor meetings.
- Report weekly schedule and commodity installation status.
- Monitor extra work authorizations, back charges, and payment requests.
- Adhere to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.
- Act as the on-site Safety Representative when needed and resolve safety and quality issues.
- Write the construction portion of the client monthly report and supervise the work of others.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and the change management process.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred, or relevant field experience.
- 5+ years of construction supervisory experience is required.
- OSHA Training certification.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include background checks, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or heavy industrial experience.
- Union or Union management experience as a Construction Manager is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of construction technology, the EPC industry, and constructability.
- Knowledge of project and department budget processes and tools, and project controls.
- Risk assessment/management skills and knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.
- Experience with Construction Project Management Systems.
- Conceptual planning ability and conflict management skills.
- Strong leadership ability, including team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, and advising.
- Multi-tasking, presentation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and meeting skills.
- Familiarity with time reporting systems and expense reporting policies.

Work Mode
This is an onsite position. You will be required to mobilize to the project site located in Harriman, TN for the project's duration, with onboarding in Overland Park, KS.
