Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly financial close and deliver accurate, timely reporting across a multi-channel profit and loss structure
- Oversee gross-to-net revenue calculations by sales channel, including trade accruals and return reserves
- Demonstrated experience developing or managing contribution margin profit and loss statements segmented by channel or product
- Possess in-depth understanding of ASC 606 standards for revenue recognition
- Proven ability to complete the financial close within 5 to 7 business days in a complex, multi-faceted organization
- Manage inventory costing and perform variance analysis across multiple physical locations
- Collaborate across departments to ensure real-time visibility into inventory levels and valuation
- Experience applying IRC 263A rules, including leading or coordinating the associated calculations
- Direct experience handling accounts receivable for wholesale customers, including managing retailer deductions and chargeback disputes
- Skilled in managing high-volume direct-to-consumer revenue streams, subscription models, and reconciliations on Shopify platforms
- Hands-on background in Amazon FBA accounting, including inventory logistics, fee analysis, and settlement reconciliation
- Experience managing multi-state corporate income tax obligations and coordinating with outside advisors on federal and state filings
- Take full ownership of sales tax compliance, including monitoring nexus, filing requirements, and remittance through third-party services
- Understand how Amazon FBA inventory distribution impacts sales tax nexus across jurisdictions
- Has participated in or led annual audits or reviews and can manage auditor relationships and prepare required documentation
- Develop and maintain internal controls proactively, designed for long-term effectiveness
- Design controls with scalability in mind for fast-growing, dynamic environments
- Direct experience managing an ERP system and strong perspective on optimal system architecture
- Create and maintain scalable close processes, including reconciliation templates, checklists, and documentation standards
- Prior experience leading an ERP migration is highly desirable
- Serve as a hands-on leader and mentor for 1 to 2 accounting team members while remaining involved in day-to-day tasks
- Establish clear expectations, conduct thorough work reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and precision
