About the Role

The role involves sourcing and acquiring content from authors, publishers, and other rights holders, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demand.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential content opportunities across academic, professional, and educational markets
  • Evaluate submissions and proposals for editorial and commercial viability
  • Negotiate rights and contracts with authors and partners
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to assess content quality and fit
  • Manage acquisition workflows from initial contact to contract finalization
  • Maintain accurate records of submissions and acquisition pipelines
  • Monitor market trends to inform acquisition strategies
  • Build and sustain relationships with content creators and agents
  • Ensure compliance with intellectual property and copyright standards
  • Support the development of new content formats and digital products
  • Coordinate with legal and finance teams on contractual terms
  • Provide regular reports on acquisition performance and pipeline health
  • Assist in setting acquisition budgets and forecasting
  • Represent the organization at industry events and conferences
  • Contribute to strategic planning for content portfolio expansion

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Experience in STEM or scholarly publishing
  • Fluency in a second language
  • Track record of building successful content portfolios
  • International publishing experience
