Role Overview
As a Consumer Access Specialist, you will play a key role in guiding patients through the access process by accurately registering individuals for services, confirming insurance eligibility, and securing necessary pre-authorizations. Your attention to detail ensures compliance with Medicare requirements, including timely issuance of Advance Beneficiary Notices when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews to ensure compliance with Medicare regulations and issue required noncoverage notices as needed
- Generate clear financial estimates outlining patient responsibility and facilitate payment collection or set up structured payment plans
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits by directly contacting payers and obtain pre-authorizations within established timelines
- Ensure accurate patient registration across all services to prevent duplication and maintain data integrity
- Collaborate with utilization management teams to resolve authorization challenges and provide patients with essential service information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in a related field preferred
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) from an accredited body
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) from an accredited issuing organization
