Parsons is hiring an experienced Aviation Construction Manager (Resident Engineer) to provide oversight and direction on complex construction projects at Atlanta International Airport (ATL). This role requires significant mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) experience and involves managing multi-disciplined teams, ensuring contract compliance, and driving projects to successful completion within an active airport environment.
What You'll Do
- Perform complex field engineering and construction management assignments, supervising all technical aspects of a construction project.
- Coordinate contractors and evaluate progress and quality against approved schedules and budgets.
- Review and approve progress payments, bid package documents, and all construction documents for scope, schedule, and budget conformance.
- Monitor and supervise field coordination and inspection, and expedite resolution of construction problems.
- Oversee the Quality Assurance Program for assigned contracts and conduct weekly construction meetings.
- Manage schedule updates, administer construction contracts, and review, approve, and certify contractor requests for payment.
- Maintain first-level quality assurance to confirm work is installed per plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Ensure tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented according to approved procedures.
- Collaborate with contractors and the Owner’s team on safety and environmental health issues.
- Establish and maintain liaison with design engineering staff, reviewing and interpreting design drawings and specifications.
- Manage the resolution of technical engineering problems and coordinate application of solutions.
- Develop and review construction schedules, monitor progress, and provide appraisal reports to the Program Manager and Client.
- Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness and quality.
- Initiate and lead project closeout and support the implementation of the Operational Readiness and Transition (ORAT) plan.
- Initiate and maintain cost and change management records, progress reports, and project records.
- Interface with the client, upper-level management, and various stakeholders at a major airport, coordinating construction in an active aircraft movement area.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or construction-related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 10+ years of related work experience.
- 3 years in a leadership role at a field site.
- Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Familiarity with industry practices and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CMR).
- Experience reviewing and understanding a contractor’s Safety Plan and QC Plan.
- Experience reviewing and overseeing a Document Control Plan and development/utilization of a Project Procedures Manual.
- Previous experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a CM field staff including Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project/Office Engineers, Document Control Clerks, and Field Inspectors.
- Knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software.
- Experience with airport construction projects.
- Willingness to relocate to construction site locations.
