The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is hiring a Construction Inspector Supervisor to lead a team of inspectors ensuring the quality and compliance of vital public infrastructure projects. This role is critical to maintaining the safety and integrity of Louisiana's roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
What You'll Do
- Supervise a team of construction inspectors working on multiple road, bridge, and airport runway projects, providing daily guidance, training, and reviewing their work.
- Ensure all construction work is completed according to DOTD policies, plans, and specifications, verifying materials and methods for concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and structures.
- Assist the Project Engineer by meeting with contractor personnel to resolve issues, monitor inspection quality, and ensure accurate field books and test reports for timely payments.
- Perform office engineering functions, including preparing cost and quantity estimates, final project acceptance (2059) documentation, and earthwork computations.
- Review daily work reports, quantity calculations, and material testing reports for accuracy, and assemble project documentation for change orders and final project submittals.
- Review plans and specifications for upcoming projects for accuracy and constructability, and recommend changes during design meetings.
- Provide project-related information to contractors and other parties as requested.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or GED plus five years of experience in construction inspection or maintenance of public roads, bridges, or highways; OR
- Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy equipment operation, or maintenance plus five years of relevant construction inspection experience; OR
- Thirty semester hours in a specialized field such as architecture, engineering, construction technology, drafting, math, or physics; OR
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or construction technology; OR
- Possession of an engineer intern certificate.
- Must be a self-motivated individual able to perform duties with minimal supervision and interpret unforeseen conditions on site.
- Must participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs and continuing education.

Team & Environment
You will report directly to an Engineer 6, Project Engineer, supervising a team of inspectors on active construction sites.

- Compensation: $29.45 per hour.
