About the Role
This role involves preparing, labeling, and verifying compounded medications during overnight hours, supporting accurate dispensing and regulatory compliance within a high-volume pharmacy environment.
Responsibilities
- Measure and mix active pharmaceutical ingredients according to prescription guidelines
- Verify compounding formulas for accuracy and adherence to protocols
- Maintain sterile compounding environments in compliance with USP <797> standards
- Label medications clearly and correctly following safety regulations
- Operate pharmacy equipment such as balances, mixers, and laminar flow hoods
- Document compounding procedures in pharmacy information systems
- Assist in quality control checks for compounded preparations
- Follow infection control practices and facility sanitation protocols
- Support inventory management for active pharmaceutical ingredients
- Respond to pharmacist inquiries regarding compounding status
- Package finished medications for secure and compliant delivery
- Adhere to safety procedures when handling hazardous materials
- Participate in routine equipment calibration and maintenance
- Maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes
- Escalate discrepancies in prescriptions or formulations to supervising pharmacists
- Uphold patient confidentiality in all data handling processes
- Follow standard operating procedures for emergency situations
- Assist with training new technicians on compounding workflows
- Monitor expiration dates and storage conditions of ingredients
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in compounding accuracy and efficiency
