As a Compliance Specialist, you will play a central role in ensuring that lending and servicing operations meet evolving state and federal regulations. You'll monitor regulatory updates, evaluate their impact on current practices, and lead initiatives to adapt policies and procedures accordingly.
What You'll Do
- Track changes in regulations affecting chattel loan origination and servicing, and assess how they influence company operations
- Lead compliance projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory standards
- Work closely with teams across departments to implement compliance strategies efficiently
- Research regulatory trends, industry developments, and best practices to inform decision-making
- Review and improve existing policies to close gaps and strengthen adherence
- Prepare and maintain compliance documentation, including policy manuals and procedural guidelines
- Support regulatory audits and examinations by compiling necessary records and reports
- Assist with licensing requirements for the company and employees
- Prepare and submit the NMLSR Mortgage Call Report and other mandated filings
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 years of experience in mortgage compliance, risk management, or servicing, with exposure to manufactured housing or chattel lending preferred
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing mortgage lending and servicing operations
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex rules clearly
- Organized approach to managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Compliance-related certifications
- Background in mortgage quality assurance, internal audit, or control functions
- Experience across the mortgage lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, closing, and servicing
- Direct experience with default management, bankruptcy handling, or loss mitigation
