The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking a Compliance Specialist 1 for a limited duration position. In this full-time role within the Apprenticeship & Training Division, you will conduct vital compliance reviews and investigations for registered apprenticeship programs. The position is scheduled to last until June 30, 2026.
What You'll Do
- Complete compliance reviews on registered apprenticeship programs.
- Investigate and analyze suspected non-compliance, applying federal and state regulations, laws, and guidelines to determine violation severity.
- Cite committees, employers, and apprentices to appear before the Oregon State Apprenticeship & Training Council (OSATC) pursuant to disciplinary proceedings.
- Provide technical assistance to apprenticeship committees and employers to help them achieve and maintain compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Two years of experience conducting administrative research that includes compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action or decide compliance with program guidelines.
- Note: college-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data using tools like Excel or Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of applying government rules and regulations, reviewing compliance, or interpreting legal requirements.
- Knowledge of organizational record-keeping systems, both digital and traditional.
- Skills to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Skills to identify data errors, write clear reports, analyze root causes, and build trust for information gathering.
- Skills to find key information in documents, make sound decisions, check information against standards, and communicate professionally.
- Skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Skills to apply technical rules to real-world situations and explain them to others.
