Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a compliant Safety, Health, Environment, and Facilities Management System at the site, including creating required risk assessments, inspection routines, control strategies, and related documentation.
- Guide site leadership on practical methods and safeguards to minimize health, safety, and environmental risks associated with on-site materials, machinery, and operations, applying control initiatives as authorized.
- Collaborate with regional health and safety personnel to ensure compliance as a COMAH-regulated facility, taking proactive steps to avoid major incidents and demonstrating compliance to regulatory bodies.
- Create and execute programs ensuring all site equipment, machinery, and facilities are operated safely and meet legal standards, arranging inspections, maintenance, and repairs as needed.
- Lead timely and thorough investigations of accidents and incidents, providing expert input and recommendations to operational leaders when required.
- Oversee contractor supervision and permit-to-work systems, ensuring all tasks are managed by qualified individuals through controlled, risk-assessed procedures.
- Promote meaningful worker engagement on safety and environmental issues, including organizing Safety Committee meetings and using various communication channels to support a strong safety culture.
- Assist in designing and delivering targeted safety training programs tailored to specific job functions in coordination with operational supervisors.
- Plan and conduct audits and inspections according to applicable standards, working with management to define requirements, assess findings, track corrective actions, and verify ongoing compliance.
- Generate accurate key performance indicators to evaluate performance against set goals, distributing relevant data to management, regulatory agencies, and clients as appropriate.
- Use incident data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures across the site.
