Collective is hiring a Community & Events Manager

About the Role

Role Overview

As the Community & Events Manager, you’ll play a central role in shaping the experience of a growing network of independent professionals. You’ll be responsible for creating moments that matter—both online and in person—by designing events that foster connection, learning, and collaboration. Your work will directly influence how members engage with one another and how their voices shape the future of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of member dinner series—from venue selection and RSVP strategy to on-site hosting and post-event follow-up.
  • Travel frequently across the U.S. to host gatherings, deepen relationships, and represent the community at conferences and industry events.
  • Support live activations in collaboration with marketing, sales, and partnerships, ensuring a strong and consistent presence.
  • Act as a welcoming and energetic ambassador, making members feel seen, heard, and valued in every interaction.
  • Keep the digital community active with recurring programming, including expert panels, pitch challenges, and themed discussions.
  • Facilitate the Member Innovation Council, guiding structured feedback sessions that inform product development.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to organize and run member research and input sessions.
  • Spotlight member achievements, amplify their stories, and elevate their voices across channels.
  • Capture authentic content at events—photos, video clips, quotes—to support marketing and storytelling efforts.
  • Work with marketing to turn community moments into social content, case studies, and member features.
  • Document insights from events and share them across teams to drive continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Self-motivated and proactive—you thrive without a playbook and take initiative to solve problems.
  • Experienced in managing events from start to finish, with a track record of delivering smooth, engaging experiences.
  • Skilled at building rapport quickly and making people feel included in any setting.
  • Comfortable using AI-powered tools to track attendance, content performance, and engagement trends.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities with precision and maintain high standards under pressure.
  • Excited by travel and adaptable to changing schedules and environments.
  • Clear and effective in both spoken and written communication.
  • Visually aware—you know what moments are worth capturing and how to present them well.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on crafting experiences that feel intentional and memorable.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in planning virtual and in-person events.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure the impact of community initiatives and event ROI.
  • Experience managing online communities such as Discord, Slack, or forums.
  • Familiarity with the self-employed or gig economy landscape.

Technology Tools

You’ll work with AI platforms for performance tracking, community hubs (e.g., Discord, Slack), event management software, and content creation tools for photo and video editing.

Work Environment

This role is open to remote candidates across the U.S. Bay Area-based team members follow a hybrid schedule. Regular domestic travel is a core part of the position. The company supports flexibility, wellness, and work-life balance through remote-friendly policies and recurring virtual and in-person gatherings.

Benefits

  • Remote-friendly culture with flexible scheduling
  • Quarterly $200 wellness reimbursement
  • Monthly $150 transit stipend for hybrid team members
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (100% for employees, 75% for dependents)
  • 16 weeks fully paid parental leave
  • Flexible PTO and 14 company holidays
  • 401k plan with employer contributions
  • Equity package
  • Annual in-person summit and quarterly virtual events

Compensation

This position includes an equity package and participation in the company’s 401k plan. Specific salary details are available during the interview process.
