Sedgwick is looking for a Commercial Property Claims Desk Adjuster to join our team. In this role, you will handle losses and claims for commercial property insurers by examining documents, records, and loss reports. You will efficiently manage a case load using technology for claim processing.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate insurance policies, claims forms, endorsements, carrier instructions, and other records to determine coverage.
- Conduct thorough investigations, gathering official reports, consulting records, and inspecting physical damage to determine liability.
- Interview and correspond with claimants and witnesses.
- Estimate the cost of repair, replacement, or compensation.
- Prepare reports of findings and negotiate claim settlements according to carrier instructions.
- Issue settlement checks, file regulatory documents, and handle salvage and subrogation as applicable.
- Recommend litigation when settlement cannot be negotiated.
- Attend litigation hearings and participate in depositions as necessary.
- Revise case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs.
- Maintain an expected caseload efficiently.
- Utilize technology and automation tools for efficient claim handling.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to obtain an IIA-AIC designation within 12 to 18 months in the role.
- Appropriate state adjuster license.
- Three (3) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Empathetic claims handling demeanor.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- Ability to create comprehensive, accurate, and constructive written reports.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion.
- Ability to handle work-related stress, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Prior experience handling property and casualty claims.
Work Mode
This is a remote position after completing initial training.
