Santander, a global leader in financial services, is hiring a Commercial Credit Risk Review Sr. Supervisor. This is an individual contributor position where you will maintain subject matter expertise and lead assessments of credit risk and credit risk management within our corporate and investment banking units. Your role will focus on reviewing loan files and materials for compliance with policies and standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead and participate in credit risk reviews of corporate and investment banking portfolios, contributing to review summaries and recommendations.
- Assess asset quality, status, and appropriateness of existing credit risk controls and compliance with established policies.
- Ensure timely assignment of risk ratings and the identification and management of deteriorating credits.
- Review required documentation for loan review testing, including conducting credit file reviews and completing linesheets.
- Assess the effectiveness of portfolio management, credit monitoring functions, and reporting.
- Follow up and track recommendations from prior reviews, performing validation of completed remediation.
- Follow up and track regulatory recommendations, performing validation of completed remediation.
- Monitor performance of portfolios through continuous monitoring activities to identify emerging trends and risks.
- Assess and monitor credit risks related to new products and business initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Finance, Business, or an equivalent field.
- 12+ years of banking experience, preferably concentrated in Corporate Credit Loan Review, Credit Risk Management, or other corporate and/or leveraged and structured finance credit risk functions.
- Ability to think critically and work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously.
- Project management skills and ability to direct others when leading an assignment.
- Excellent business writing skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with business line and credit risk personnel.
- Solid diplomatic skills with the ability to resolve conflict and establish rapport.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulatory matters related to lending in large corporate, financial institution, and structured finance sectors.
- Ability to stay current with industry and regulatory trends, emerging risks, and the competitive landscape.
- Strong follow-through and a commitment to meeting obligations to others.
- Takes responsibility for achieving strong results while balancing multiple complex demands.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify component parts of complex situations and relationships among variables.
Nice to Have
- Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or an equivalent field.
- Specific subject matter expertise in complex credit structures.
- Proficiency with data analytics and business intelligence tools.
- Finance certifications such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
- An established work history demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office products.
