Position Overview
Join a growing team of engineering professionals focused on coastal and waterfront infrastructure. This role centers on managing complex projects related to shoreline protection, marina development, dredging, and coastal resiliency. You will lead initiatives from concept through construction, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, technical analysis, permitting, design, and field inspection of coastal and waterfront development projects
- Develop engineering solutions that balance cost, constructability, and long-term performance
- Prepare feasibility studies, technical reports, construction specifications, and design documentation
- Oversee the creation of engineering drawings and perform critical reviews of calculations and modeling results
- Conduct site visits during construction to verify compliance and provide technical oversight
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables while ensuring quality standards
- Lead client and regulatory agency meetings, presenting technical information clearly and professionally
- Respond to requests for proposals by defining project scope, budget, and timeline
- Maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles
- Travel to project sites using company or personal vehicle as required
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in coastal engineering, civil engineering, ocean engineering, or a closely related field
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience (7 or more preferred)
- Strong technical writing and business communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to perform regular fieldwork and occasional overnight travel across the U.S. and Caribbean
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred
- Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and numerical modeling software
- Experience with FEMA flood mapping and coastal resilience planning
- Familiarity with surveying methods and principles
- Boating experience and comfort working in marine environments
