Woodward is looking for a CNC Machinist, Level 1 to join our team on a 2nd shift, 4x10 schedule. You will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC and manual machines to produce high-precision metal parts. Your work will be guided by detailed instructions and a commitment to quality, safety, and lean manufacturing principles.
What You'll Do
- Perform basic setup and operate multiple CNC or Manual machines (Lathes, Milling, Swiss, Grinding-OD/ID) to produce precision metal parts.
- Perform supporting operations like manual material removal and sub-assembly.
- Perform first piece inspections.
- Follow detailed work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy.
- Interpret engineering blueprints and apply basic GD&T knowledge.
- Use various gages to inspect finished products and record/maintain data per SOPs.
- Apply 5S principles to improve workstation organization and cleanliness.
- Adhere to safety protocols and encourage team safety.
- Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and the daily management system.
What We're Looking For
- Skilled in operating multiple CNC or Manual machining equipment (Lathes, Mills, Swiss, OD/ID Grinders).
- Proficient in supporting operations.
- Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and basic GD&T knowledge.
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to use inspection gaging and hand/power tools.
- Uses basic software (email, spreadsheets, data entry tools).
- Follows lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction.
- Understands and adheres to standardized work.
- Must be a U.S. Person within the meaning of ITAR/EAR or eligible to obtain required authorizations.
