About the Role
The advisor will work directly with clients to assess financial situations, recommend tax planning solutions, and support long-term financial goals while maintaining regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate client financial records to determine tax liabilities
- Develop customized tax reduction strategies for individuals and businesses
- Communicate complex tax concepts in clear, accessible language
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state tax regulations
- Prepare and review tax filings for accuracy and compliance
- Respond to client inquiries regarding tax notices or audits
- Coordinate with internal teams to align financial planning with tax outcomes
- Track deadlines for filing and payment obligations
- Document client interactions and recommendations in secure systems
- Identify opportunities for clients to improve tax efficiency
- Support clients during IRS or state audits with documentation and guidance
- Ensure confidentiality and data protection in all client communications
- Stay informed about changes in tax legislation affecting clients
- Assist in onboarding new clients and gathering financial documentation
- Provide updates on tax law changes that may impact client strategies
- Maintain organized records of client accounts and correspondence
- Escalate complex cases to senior advisors when necessary
- Participate in team meetings to discuss client progress and challenges
- Follow up with clients to confirm understanding of recommendations
- Use tax software to prepare returns and model scenarios
- Promote proactive tax planning over reactive compliance
- Ensure timely submission of estimated tax payments
- Collaborate with accountants and legal professionals on integrated solutions
- Support clients transitioning from other providers
- Monitor client accounts for changes affecting tax status
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in taxation or related field
- Five or more years in client-facing tax roles
- Experience with multi-state tax filings
- Familiarity with retirement account taxation
- Knowledge of international tax implications for individuals
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation
- Experience supporting high-net-worth clients
- Background in tax controversy representation
- Advanced proficiency in tax research databases
- Prior work in a hybrid or remote advisory setting
