Gray Media / Gray Television, Inc. is looking for a Chief Photographer to join the First Alert 7 / KOSA news team in Odessa-Midland, TX. You will be the lead visual storyteller, responsible for shooting and editing content for on-air and online platforms while training others on camera equipment and video editing.
What You'll Do
- Work with the News Director and other newsroom leaders on daily story and project assignments.
- Shoot and edit video and audio for broadcast, streaming, promos, and teases.
- Generate story ideas and identify potential stories.
- Communicate with reporters, writers, and producers on video needed for news stories.
- Respond to breaking news or urgent newsroom situations.
- Maintain camera/related equipment and news vehicles.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Must be a visual storyteller.
- Demonstrates sound news judgment and ability to tell stories with pictures and natural sound.
- Able to shoot and edit stories, and work collaboratively with producers and reporters.
- Must possess the ability to edit on non-linear equipment and to adapt to new technology.
- Must be able to work well under pressure with limited supervision and meet daily deadlines.
- Ability to stay current with national and local news and weather.
- Strong initiative and attention to detail are required.
- Must have a clean driving record.
Nice to Have
- Degree in Journalism or a related field.
- Ability to operate news-related software and basic knowledge of web posting software.
- Working knowledge of SNG trucks is a plus.
