About the Role

The Ministerie van Defensie is hiring a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Koninklijke Marechaussee (KMar). This strategic leadership role is responsible for advising, steering, and directing information security and cybersecurity for the entire organization. You will operate within a complex public environment where unique information flows intersect with national security.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of approximately 20 professionals, helping them maintain focus and cohesion.
  • Provide strategic direction for policy development and ensure frameworks are workable and proportionate.
  • Develop and monitor the cybersecurity roadmap and ensure plans are executed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and regulators.
  • Stimulate cyber-safe behavior throughout the entire organization.
  • Provide managerial interpretation of cybersecurity incidents and oversee careful coordination and resolution.
  • Prepare strategic choices through sharp annotations and managerial advice.

What We're Looking For

  • A completed university (WO) education, e.g., in Business Administration, Administrative Information Science, or Business Informatics.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience.
  • Demonstrable experience within a large, complex organization.
  • Extensive experience in the field of information security and/or cybersecurity.
  • Experience in a role where advising senior management or the board was central.
  • Additional training in the field of I&T, cybersecurity, or integrated security.

Nice to Have

  • Extensive certification is welcome, but the focus is on a leader who strategically positions the field, not exclusively a content specialist.

Team & Environment

You will lead a team of approximately 20 professionals. The role is a decentral CISO within the Directorate Information & Technology of the Staff C-KMar (Commandant KMar). You will work closely with the Security Coordinator KMar and are a fixed interlocutor for colleagues from the CIO-office, the directorate, commanders from the operational domain, the I&T chain, and departmental and interdepartmental departments.

  • Compensation: €6,679.00 - €8,408.00 per month
