Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary technical contact within the systems engineering organization
- Directs the engineering design, development, integration, and deployment of rail infrastructure and related systems
- Ensures all work adheres to safety, regulatory, and technical requirements, including FRA, FTA, AREMA, and other relevant standards
- Manages project planning, budgeting, and scheduling in coordination with project managers and stakeholders
- Coordinates the efforts of cross-functional engineering teams, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines
- Provides expert technical input and decision support during construction and commissioning activities
- Promotes innovation in system performance, reliability, and long-term maintenance planning
- Assesses the performance of contractors and consultants to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards
- Serves as the technical point of contact for government agencies, external partners, and internal departments
- Leads risk assessment and mitigation efforts related to engineering aspects throughout the project lifecycle
- Supports environmental evaluations and sustainability initiatives in rail system planning and operations
- Directs the implementation of advanced engineering solutions and strategic approaches
- Offers technical mentorship and guidance to engineering staff
- Oversees the allocation and forecasting of technical personnel and resources
- Works closely with executive leadership and project management to deliver effective technical solutions
- Enhances client operational effectiveness through expert advice and resource support
- Addresses and resolves high-priority technical issues, ensuring resolution and follow-up
- Utilizes established relationships with industry specialists to develop robust and reliable engineering outcomes
