Ford is looking for a Chassis Controls Software Application Design and Release Engineer to lead the application of in-house and supplier software for sophisticated electronic brake and steering systems. In this role, you will utilize Design Thinking and User Experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services.
What You'll Do
- Handle software and calibration delivery management, including timing, coordination with builds and OTA updates, and change management.
- Guide supplier partners through the Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS).
- Support driver assist features.
- Deliver software work packages for the change management process, including release documentation, functional validation, and OTA updates.
- Work with cross-module network communication implementation (e.g., OTA, CS, MA, E2E, PARSED).
- Investigate Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) issues, including Quality Early Detection (QED).
- Support service manual development.
- Support Breadboard/HiL activities, such as issue resolution and software updates.
- Support prototype vehicle builds, including root cause analysis and software flashing.
- Release diagnostics specifications.
- Ensure compliance to Central SW requirements.
- Lead SW Technical Design Reviews (TDRs).
- Support assembly plant End-of-line (EOL) setup and issue resolution.
- Learn and participate in SW AGILE processes.
- Support Chassis Controls requirement development.
- Evaluate new software development toolchains and processes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- 5+ years of experience in design or development of embedded systems.
- 2+ years of experience in requirements management.
Nice to Have
- Experience with FMEA and related quality assurance processes.
- 5+ years of experience in design or development for Chassis or Powertrain controls.
- Familiarity with vehicle network communication (e.g., CAN).
- Familiarity with Ford embedded software requirements.
- Self-starter who can learn new tools and resolve vehicle problems.
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
- Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production quickly.
- Familiarity with digital and analog data acquisition systems.
- Awareness of or experience with ISO 26262.
- Experience with sophisticated system analysis tools and methods.
- Experience with controls modeling (e.g., Matlab/Simulink, Stateflow, SysML).
- Experience with HIL simulation and testing.
