Washington University in St. Louis is hiring a Certified Coder to support its Pediatrics Central Administration department. In this remote role, you will analyze medical record documentation to ensure accurate, compliant billing and coding.
What You'll Do
- Review medical record documentation to identify all pertinent facts necessary for selecting comprehensive diagnoses and procedures.
- Assign evaluation and management codes to the appropriate CPT code and assign diagnoses to the correct ICD-10 code.
- Meet with physicians to review documentation, resolve coding issues, secure signatures, and tag files for follow-up.
- Act as a lead person by assisting other coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation.
- Assist with initiatives to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
- Prepare case reports and initiate follow-up for the billing process.
What We're Looking For
- Must possess one of the following professional coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, or CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A, or one of the AAPC specialty-specific coding credentials).
Nice to Have
- Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Associate degree in Medical Coding & Billing.
- Skills in Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, and Medical Terminology.
