Handle the accurate processing and posting of healthcare payments, denials, and adjustments across various claim types. Work independently to prepare, verify, and reconcile both manual and electronic payment batches, ensuring all entries align with financial records and internal logs.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and organize incoming payments by group, identifying invoices for accurate posting
- Follow established protocols to apply payments, denials, and adjustments to the correct accounts
- Reconcile each batch to confirm totals match and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Log batch receipt and completion times accurately
- Flag and research incomplete or unclear payments, escalating unresolved items after two business days
- Investigate unapplied payments to determine proper refund pathways
- Verify actions involving unapplied invoices with a supervisor before processing
- Review lockbox statements for address updates and credit card payments
- Prepare workers’ compensation remittances for imaging
- Support special project postings and assist with mail intake as needed
- Securely maintain and dispose of sensitive documents after required retention periods
Qualifications
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience. Prior experience in office operations, customer service, or healthcare administration is beneficial. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing shifting priorities efficiently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. You should demonstrate empathy when interacting with sensitive information and maintain professionalism across diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with healthcare payor processes, reimbursement models, or medical coding (CPT, ICD-10) is preferred.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position located in San Antonio. Initially, remote work is not permitted; however, after successful completion of training, there may be opportunities for limited hybrid scheduling. The role operates within a structured, fast-paced healthcare finance setting that values accuracy, integrity, and collaboration.
