About the Role

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is hiring a Career & Internship Specialist (Career Development Coordinator) for SuccessWorks in the College of Letters & Science. In this role, you will advise undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent alumni, on career and internship topics, develop educational programs, and build partnerships with academic departments. This position reports to the Director of Career Advising & Communities and offers a hybrid work schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students, and recent alumni, individually and in groups, on career topics for students entering specific fields.
  • Build and maintain content expertise in assigned Career Communities, including search strategies, hiring trends, and paths for underrepresented students.
  • Develop and execute educational programs and resources in partnership with other SuccessWorks teams and academic departments.
  • Build relationships with assigned L&S departments to understand student and department needs related to careers.
  • Respond to questions and provide information regarding student services, policies, procedures, and employment preparation.
  • Develop and deliver career development programming and resource materials across various mediums.
  • Educate or advise students and alumni on career exploration, self-assessment, skills development, and career decisions.
  • Participate in the campus-wide career services community, providing input on advising, recruitment, and programs.
  • May identify and maintain a professional network of employers or stakeholders to facilitate career exploration and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in career services, academic advising, student services, alumni relations, human resources, recruitment, teaching, or a related field.
  • Ability to engage individuals via advising, mentoring, tutoring, or coaching.
  • Demonstrates clear and concise communication skills across a variety of channels and audiences.
  • Skills in collaborating with others, gathering diverse perspectives, and integrating feedback to work toward a common goal.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing and delivering educational programs or resources that accomplished established goals.
  • Awareness of and interest in the diverse backgrounds, identities, and strengths students contribute to shaping their careers.
  • Experience researching and seeking out the most recent information from valid sources.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Director of Career Advising & Communities and be part of the SuccessWorks team within the College of Letters & Science.   • Compensation: $50,000 up to $65,000 annually for highly experienced candidates.
