Responsibilities
- Deploy, service, and fix structured cabling systems using copper, fiber optic, and other telecommunications media.
- Evaluate, manage, and support telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
- Prepare, connect, and verify cables and components, including safe operation of power tools and ladders.
- Diagnose, place, install, and repair cabling systems in response to service issues and scheduled upkeep.
- Set up, service, and correct voice and data communication networks.
- Detect, log, and eliminate unused cabling while organizing active cables safely and neatly.
- Verify all installations meet DoD STIG requirements through baseline, testing, and validation prior to activation.
- Perform ongoing system checks and validation to maintain compliance standards.
- Support documentation of baseline configurations for all network equipment tied to cabling systems.
- Maintain precise asset records and reporting within the Government-supplied tracking system.
- Collaborate with the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD), IT staff, and other parties to align cabling efforts with overall network strategy.
