About the Role

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) is hiring a Business Process Expert, External Purchasing Planning to be a key part of our End-to-End Planning transformation. You will be instrumental in designing, integrating, and improving our external purchasing processes to make the organization more agile, efficient, and customer-centric.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze and refine site supply chain processes to enhance service and buyer efficiency.
  • Document as-is and to-be processes and drive continuous improvement in external purchasing and MRP methodologies.
  • Run process improvement workshops and identify and promote best practices for global alignment.
  • Maintain a priority focus list and coordinate the community of subject matter experts (key users).
  • Align on requirements from other excellence workstreams and lead change management initiatives.
  • Develop training materials, procedures, and policies, and train employees on new processes.
  • Assess and recommend technologies that link directly to process performance for service, inventory, etc.
  • Design process remediation based on SAP & JDE data using central process methodology.
  • Establish policies, procedures, quality standards, and lead governance sessions.
  • Monitor results, exceptions, and develop insights and analytics to support decision-making.
  • Establish and track KPIs to monitor global system performance and support Power BI implementation.

What We're Looking For

  • A bachelor's or master's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience across multiple business units and differentiated supply chains.
  • Understanding of supplier relationship management, contract management, spend analytics, and supply risk management.
  • Knowledge of ERP transactions, inventory management, EDI, purchase order life cycle, and regulatory requirements.
  • Expert-level system knowledge of Kinaxis, SAP & JDE, including reports, tables, and data.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes from sourcing to distribution and replenishment techniques for MRO, OEM, and raw materials.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify root causes, and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency in creating models for inventory and system utilization, balancing cost, service, and demand.
  • Skills in tracking KPIs like on-time delivery and inventory turnover.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems like SAP, JDE, AS400, or supply chain software like SAP APO or Kinaxis.
  • Advanced Excel and potentially SQL, Python, or Power BI for data handling.
  • Familiarity with global procurement technologies for e-sourcing and supplier management.
  • Ability to collaborate with logistics, production, planning, finance, procurement, and sales teams.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to manage projects within tight timelines.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Strategic understanding of how purchasing fits within broader company goals.
  • Flexibility to adjust plans quickly in response to market changes or disruptions.
  • Ability to weigh costs and benefits to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • For most roles, we require a minimum of 4 days of in-office presence per week.
  • For certain roles, employment is contingent upon proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
