Heifer International is seeking a Business Advisor to strengthen the technical and business capacities of organizations and enterprises in the dairy, meat, beekeeping, and minor species value chains of the LSII (PEG) project in Olancho. This position combines expertise in livestock, business development, and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities within these productive sectors.
What You'll Do
- Identify and evaluate entities within prioritized value chains (CRELs, plants, CRACs, and ventures), developing business diagnostics and profiles for linkage with development programs.
- Provide technical, administrative, financial, and managerial support, implementing tools that strengthen business management, competitiveness, and sustainability.
- Implement entrepreneurship programs with a focus on gender and youth, designing business models, financial products, and promotion strategies to drive growth and scaling of ventures.
- Facilitate connections with programs, projects, suppliers, and financial agents to expand opportunities for financing, investment, and market access.
- Support fund management, activity planning, coordination with technical areas, and indicator monitoring; produce progress, results, and lessons learned reports.
- Promote local capacities through the Locally Led Development (LLD) and VBHCD model approaches, strengthening social capital and the self-management of organizations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, agribusiness, agroindustry, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum three (3) years of verifiable work as a facilitator of business development services, incubation, acceleration, and/or entrepreneurship with independent entrepreneurs and associative groups.
- Minimum three (3) years of professional experience in a related field.
- Experience advising on all stages of dairy product processing, including reception, processing, and packaging. Ability to optimize processes and ensure compliance with quality and safety regulations.
- Experience in developing business models, business formalization, client and team management, leadership, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and innovation.
- Experience formulating project profiles, business plans, and improvement plans, primarily within the framework of development project implementation.
- Experience gathering and analyzing quantitative and qualitative information for the preparation of technical reports.
- Own a personal vehicle (non-negotiable requirement).
- Possess a valid driver's license for 4x4 vehicles and proven experience driving in rural areas.
Nice to Have
- Preferably hold certified training (courses or diplomas) supporting your experience in business development and entrepreneurship, especially in the dairy sector.
- Preferably, have work experience in the dairy livestock and honey sectors and/or another value chain with economic impact.
