About the Role
The engineer will oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, performing maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with regulations to support continuous building performance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building equipment
- Respond to system malfunctions and conduct timely repairs
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities
- Assist in energy management and sustainability initiatives
- Operate and monitor building automation systems
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized services
- Support emergency response procedures during critical incidents
- Implement cost-effective maintenance strategies
- Inspect equipment performance and recommend upgrades
- Ensure proper functioning of life safety systems
- Manage work orders and track resolution times
- Maintain clean and safe equipment rooms and mechanical spaces
- Follow standard operating procedures for all engineering tasks
- Perform testing and balancing of mechanical systems
- Assist with capital improvement projects
- Conduct walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs
- Support compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Train junior staff on equipment operations and safety protocols
- Use CMMS for tracking maintenance schedules and work logs
- Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies
- Adhere to sustainability goals and energy conservation practices
- Provide after-hours on-call support when required

Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work in mechanical rooms with exposure to noise and temperature variations
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces is necessary
Work Environment
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings across commercial buildings
- May include exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, and limited chemical exposure
- On-call availability required for emergency situations outside regular business hours
