This role leads the Enhanced Peer Counseling program in Suffolk County, guided by the NYS DOH WIC Loving Support framework. The counselor oversees daily operations, supervises peer staff, and ensures consistent delivery of services aligned with program standards. Regular quality assessments are conducted to support counselor development and maintain high service quality.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and guide peer counselors to meet program goals
- Coordinate schedules across multiple WIC centers
- Perform routine evaluations to support performance improvement
- Collect, manage, and safeguard participant data with strict confidentiality
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and program protocols
Requirements
- Associate’s degree with one year of relevant experience, or high school diploma with two years of experience
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish
- Personal experience breastfeeding at least one child
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher
- Comfort using internet browsers and Windows-based systems
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel
- Capacity to transport program supplies as needed
- Strong organizational skills to manage caseloads, deadlines, and training schedules
