About the Role

Every is hiring a Branch Manager to oversee all activities of our Saint Albans, Vermont branch. You will be responsible for its overall success, including the customer and employee experience, digital engagement, operations, servicing, and sales. This role has personal production responsibility and ensures branch profitability.

What You'll Do

  • Drive branch profitability by directing sales and business development, meeting operational objectives, and ensuring the branch achieves its annual goals.
  • Lead your team through coaching, performance management, and setting priorities. Build and develop branch staff.
  • Identify Retail and Business Banking customer needs through the sales process, using tools and resources to provide short- and long-term solutions.
  • Proactively prospect and grow Business Banking relationships through outreach, building the bank’s presence in the community.
  • Conduct interviews and select employees based on the staffing model.
  • Model and coach customer service and needs determination behaviors, reinforcing accountability for Retail strategy execution.
  • Ensure operational and consumer/business banking guidelines are maintained, including compliance with operational, security, and control policies.
  • Take ownership of complex account servicing and error resolution issues, including those escalated by other Bankers.
  • Engage with all team members and business partners as appropriate.
  • Independently process all Business Banking loan requests up to $100,000. Proactively bundle products and services.
  • Adhere to all applicable compliance and operational risk controls per company or regulatory standards.
  • Promote an environment supporting a culture of belonging that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and regulatory issues.
  • Exercise usual authority concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree OR, in lieu of a degree, four (4) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum three years of sales experience.
  • Minimum two years of managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
  • At Market Manager discretion/branch need, Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing required within 18 months of entry.
  • M&T Business Banking Specialist certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Business Banking products, services, and client relationship management.
  • M&T Way Certified.
  • Precision Leadership Certified.
  • Ability to work with common PC software, including Microsoft Office for word processing and spreadsheets.

Nice to Have

  • Bi-lingual/Spanish proficiency.
  • Demonstrated sales and business development experience and success, with a fundamental understanding of profitability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to communicate and function professionally with all levels of personnel and business partners.
  • Strong financial services product knowledge.
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with Internet and email.

Team & Environment

You will lead the branch team, reporting directly to the Retail Regional Manager. You will generally have direct reporting responsibility for branch staff.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Annual salary range: $60,890.34 - $101,483.90 (USD).
