Responsibilities
- Carry out metal fabrication and welding using methods such as GMAW and FCAW, with the capability to meet AS1554.1 weld testing standards when necessary
- Successfully complete AS1554.1 weld certification for applicable welding processes if required
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately
- Verify that measurements and fabricated parts conform to specified tolerances
- Handle and process raw materials with attention to safety, quality, efficiency, cost control, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement
- Engage in site-based training, skill development programs, and learning initiatives as needed
- Comply with ISO9001 quality management standards and participate in internal or external quality audits as required
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on technical tasks when necessary
- Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to apprentices and less experienced staff
- Perform additional duties such as forklift operation, plasma cutting, and material handling as assigned by workshop or site supervisors
