About the Role
The ideal candidate will examine billing records and insurance claims to verify accuracy, ensure adherence to policies and regulatory standards, and support financial accountability across operations.
Responsibilities
- Review patient billing records for completeness and correctness
- Verify insurance claim submissions against service documentation
- Identify and correct coding discrepancies in medical billing
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations
- Collaborate with finance and clinical teams to resolve billing issues
- Maintain detailed audit logs for all reviewed cases
- Flag overbilling or underbilling patterns for further analysis
- Support internal audits and prepare documentation for external reviews
- Monitor changes in reimbursement policies and update procedures accordingly
- Assist in training staff on proper billing practices
- Investigate patient billing complaints and provide resolution support
- Track key performance metrics related to billing accuracy
- Use electronic health record and billing systems to access data
- Communicate findings to supervisors with recommendations
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained throughout audits
- Evaluate billing workflows for potential improvements
- Assist in reconciling accounts receivable records
- Confirm proper documentation supports all billed services
- Report trends in billing errors to management
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPT and ICD coding standards
