About the Role

The ideal candidate will examine billing records and insurance claims to verify accuracy, ensure adherence to policies and regulatory standards, and support financial accountability across operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient billing records for completeness and correctness
  • Verify insurance claim submissions against service documentation
  • Identify and correct coding discrepancies in medical billing
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations
  • Collaborate with finance and clinical teams to resolve billing issues
  • Maintain detailed audit logs for all reviewed cases
  • Flag overbilling or underbilling patterns for further analysis
  • Support internal audits and prepare documentation for external reviews
  • Monitor changes in reimbursement policies and update procedures accordingly
  • Assist in training staff on proper billing practices
  • Investigate patient billing complaints and provide resolution support
  • Track key performance metrics related to billing accuracy
  • Use electronic health record and billing systems to access data
  • Communicate findings to supervisors with recommendations
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained throughout audits
  • Evaluate billing workflows for potential improvements
  • Assist in reconciling accounts receivable records
  • Confirm proper documentation supports all billed services
  • Report trends in billing errors to management
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPT and ICD coding standards
