Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate employee benefits plans and vendors to determine optimal value based on financial, operational, and employee experience factors.
- Propose, design, and implement new benefits programs aligned with organizational goals.
- Analyze potential benefit plan structures and cost adjustments.
- Evaluate, choose, and negotiate contracts with vendors and third-party administrators, including those for self-funded plans, to secure competitive terms.
- Act as the main point of contact for benefits vendors and external administrators.
- Manage the transfer of data to outside parties for billing, services, and plan administration.
- Review and improve internal processes to lower costs and boost efficiency.
- Maintain and document standard operating procedures for benefits administration tasks.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Guarantee accurate and timely submission of mandatory reports.
- Manage benefits transactions including enrollment, COBRA administration, terminations, status changes, beneficiary updates, leave of absence, disability claims, accident claims, 401k requests, audits, and compliance testing.
- Oversee employee benefits records, update benefits databases, and ensure payroll data accuracy.
- Provide responsive support to employees and external partners regarding benefits inquiries.
- Create educational materials to improve understanding of available benefits.
- Produce and distribute resources for onboarding, open enrollment, and plan summaries.
- Support self-funded health plan operations, including coordination with stop-loss insurers, pharmacy benefit managers, and other partners.
- Analyze claims and experience data to detect trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Take part in evaluations of benefit programs to assess effectiveness and long-term viability.
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounting teams on budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for benefits.
- Lead or assist in cross-functional initiatives such as vendor rollouts, renewals, and benefit design updates.
