Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end supply chain for frozen imported raw materials from port of inspection to domestic ground beef manufacturing sites.
- Issue purchase orders upon agreement of pricing and delivery plant for both commodity imports and branded or specialty products.
- Collaborate with the domestic ground beef product buyer to align warehouse planning with plant-specific grind mix strategies for maximum cost efficiency.
- Maintain and monitor inbound port delivery schedules, ensuring timely inspection and availability of shipments, and coordinate with import partners if delays occur.
- Evaluate current inventory levels and assess weekly inclusion rates across grinding facilities.
- Lead operational improvements at ground beef plants and track daily inclusion to maximize pound utilization.
- Partner with ground beef scheduling teams to meet raw material demands driven by weekly production plans and promotional activities.
- Use performance metrics to assign delivery dates for inspected purchase orders, ensuring adequate frozen trim supply before depletion, and inform production teams accordingly.
- Monitor incoming frozen truck deliveries and resolve any discrepancies between import and plant operations teams.
- Generate monthly reports to support KPI tracking and data collection efforts.
- Adapt the domestic ground beef planning model for use with other domestic customer segments.
- Leverage demand planning software and historical databases to inform accurate forecasting decisions.
- Promote financial accountability by monitoring P&L impact and profitability in ground beef and trim operations.
- Travel occasionally to production facilities to gain firsthand insight into operational challenges and opportunities.
- Perform additional tasks as required by management.
