Join a forward-thinking team focused on transforming data infrastructure by migrating on-premise database systems to Azure cloud platforms. In this role, you will take ownership of moving SQL Server and PostgreSQL workloads to Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances, ensuring high availability, security, and regulatory alignment across global operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end migration initiatives for database systems from on-premise environments to Azure cloud platforms.
- Design, implement, and maintain Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions tailored to clinical research needs.
- Consolidate and optimize database instances to improve efficiency, reduce licensing costs, and enhance performance.
- Configure and manage Azure-native backup, replication, disaster recovery, and security controls.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams across time zones to support scalable, compliant data architectures.
- Automate operational workflows using Azure tools to increase reliability and reduce manual intervention.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, plus at least 5 years of database engineering or DBA experience; or a high school diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years working with Azure SQL or comparable cloud database services.
- Proven track record in migrating databases from on-premise to cloud, including Unix/Linux-based systems.
- Strong technical skills in Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Azure automation, monitoring, and security tooling.
- Ability to support after-hours maintenance and incident response as needed.
Preferred Background
- Experience operating in regulated environments such as GxP, HIPAA, or GDPR.
- Microsoft certifications such as DP-300 are highly valued.
