You will lead the design and operational excellence of large-scale database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and efficient resource use across hybrid data platforms. Your work directly impacts system stability and developer productivity through automation, observability, and deep technical optimization.
What You'll Do
- Integrate AI-driven tools and LLM-assisted workflows to minimize manual intervention, improve query efficiency, and speed up root cause analysis during incidents.
- Optimize and maintain Snowflake data warehouse performance, including packaging applications and refining testing processes.
- Deliver deep-level tuning for SQL Server and PostgreSQL instances, addressing configuration, indexing, and query plan efficiency at all layers.
- Model future capacity needs across cloud platforms, identify inefficiencies, reduce costs through smarter Snowflake credit allocation, and align infrastructure sizing with actual demand.
- Automate provisioning and management of data services using Terraform, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a focus on reliable stateful workloads.
- Refine CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Octopus Deploy to ensure safe, auditable, and repeatable database schema changes.
- Document system behaviors, create self-service guides for engineering teams, and maintain clear architectural diagrams.
- Act as a technical authority for database systems and participate in on-call support for critical production environments.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience managing production databases under high load, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Proven expertise in Snowflake configuration, performance, and usage patterns.
- Strong experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform, AWS services, GitLab, and Octopus Deploy.
- Deep knowledge of Docker and production Kubernetes environments, especially for stateful applications.
- Advanced scripting ability in Python and PowerShell.
- Familiarity with C# and object-oriented design principles.
- Experience tuning queries from ORM-generated code, including Entity Framework and Dapper.
- Practical experience with Snowflake application packaging and DynamoDB operations.
