AECOM is hiring an Aviation Architect

About the Role

This role involves leading the planning and design of aviation facilities, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and delivering technical solutions that meet client and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of aviation facility designs from concept through construction documentation
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to integrate structural, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Ensure designs comply with FAA, ICAO, and other aviation regulatory standards
  • Manage technical aspects of aviation projects across multiple phases
  • Support project managers in schedule and budget oversight
  • Prepare and review technical reports and design specifications
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for airport infrastructure
  • Develop terminal layouts, gate configurations, and passenger processing areas
  • Collaborate with public agencies and stakeholders during project development
  • Oversee the production of construction drawings and bid documents
  • Integrate sustainable design principles into aviation projects
  • Perform design reviews and quality assurance checks
  • Address environmental and operational constraints in airport planning
  • Assist in the selection of materials and systems for durability and performance
  • Provide technical guidance during construction administration
  • Utilize BIM and CAD tools for design development and coordination
  • Lead design charrettes and workshops with client representatives
  • Evaluate existing facilities for upgrades or expansions
  • Develop master plans for airport growth and modernization
  • Support airfield layout planning in coordination with operations teams
  • Ensure accessibility compliance in terminal and facility designs
  • Prepare cost estimates for design alternatives
  • Respond to RFIs and field inquiries during construction
  • Mentor junior designers and architects on aviation projects
  • Stay current with aviation industry trends and emerging technologies
