AV Production Engineer (Atlanta-Based)
Role Overview
This position leads the planning, execution, and follow-up of audiovisual production for live events, from initial client discussions through on-site delivery and post-event wrap-up. You’ll ensure every technical element runs smoothly, delivering high-quality sound, video, and lighting experiences across complex, multi-track environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage AV production plans, including room layouts, equipment lists, signal routing, and staffing requirements.
- Collaborate directly with clients to understand event flow, content needs, and technical constraints.
- Coordinate with internal teams on gear preparation, logistics, freight, and scheduling.
- Develop and review run-of-show documents and cue sheets to align production with event timelines.
- Lead on-site AV operations for conferences, managing setups, rehearsals, and live execution across multiple rooms.
- Supervise local crew members—including audio, video, and stage technicians—with clear, safety-conscious direction.
- Operate or oversee video systems such as Blackmagic switching, camera configurations, projection, IMAG, and confidence monitoring.
- Manage audio systems including digital consoles (Allen & Heath, Yamaha), RF coordination, and voice mixing for speaker-heavy events.
- Set up and control basic stage and ambient lighting for events.
- Deploy and run StreamCase systems for multi-track recording and live streaming.
- Diagnose and resolve signal flow, networking, and RF issues quickly during live events.
- Ensure timely delivery of recordings, media assets, and production reports to internal and client teams.
- Update technical documentation, checklists, and operational playbooks based on field experience.
- Support warehouse operations including equipment testing, labeling, maintenance, and safe storage practices.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in corporate or conference AV production; other live event technical roles considered.
- Proven hands-on experience with signal routing, live audio mixing, and basic networking in real-time environments.
- Familiarity with video switching, camera systems, projection, and fundamental lighting setups.
- Experience supporting breakout sessions and distributed room configurations.
- A problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and propose practical solutions.
- Capacity to manage full production cycles independently with minimal oversight.
- Strong client communication skills—able to explain technical decisions clearly and confidently.
- Leadership ability: calm, clear, and safety-focused when directing on-site crews.
- Willingness to travel domestically 15–20 weeks per year, with occasional international trips.
- Ability to work long hours during events, including weekends and non-traditional shifts.
- Physical capability to handle equipment, load/unload trucks, and work on elevated platforms.
- Commitment to safety protocols and enforcing them across the team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Blackmagic ATEM switchers, routers, and conversion tools.
- Familiarity with Dante audio networking and routing systems.
- Basic video editing skills.
- Hands-on work with Allen & Heath or Yamaha digital audio consoles.
- Background in hybrid or streamed events, including multi-track recording and remote audience support.
- Skills in woodworking, scenic design, or fabrication for building stages, lecterns, or signage.

Blackmagic ATEM, Blackmagic routers, converters, Dante audio networks, Allen & Heath and Yamaha digital mixers, professional camera and projection systems, IMAG, confidence monitors, RF management tools, networking infrastructure, StreamCase streaming and recording platforms, and signal distribution hardware.
Work Model
This is an Atlanta-based role. Day-to-day operations are conducted from local facilities when not on travel. The position requires 15–20 weeks of annual travel for event assignments across the U.S. and occasionally abroad.
