The Galley Utility supports the Sanitation Officer in maintaining health, hygiene, and sanitation standards onboard the ASTORIA GRANDE cruise ship. This role ensures compliance with SHIP-SAN practices and proper handling of garbage and sanitation procedures while working in a high-pressure maritime environment.
Responsibilities
- Conducts professional and courteous physical and verbal interactions with guests and fellow employees at all times
- Supports the Sanitation Officer in planning, organizing, controlling, and evaluating Health, Hygiene and Sanitation standards
- Accomplishes company-set targets by following management instructions
- Maintains effective internal communications, teamwork, and productivity
- Continually encourages successful working practices by physically participating in ship operations as required
- Keeps the Sanitation Officer informed of all pending issues requiring cooperation or immediate attention
- Ensures availability of necessary chemicals, consumables, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Enforces best practices for proper equipment handling and maintenance
- Minimizes breakages, ensures proper handling of utensils, and avoids wastage
- Ensures chemicals are properly handled, labeled, and stored in assigned lockers
- Ensures all soap and towel dispensers are filled
- Monitors cleanliness and maintenance conditions of the Galley Toilets
Requirements
- Age 18+
- Recruitment is conducted from the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan
- Fluency in Russian is mandatory
- Knowledge of English - from intermediate depending on the position (knowledge of English is pre-intermediate for basic positions, fluency in both Russian and English is required for higher and administrative positions)
- A full package of STCW certificates and a seafarer's passport/seafarer's identity card are required
- Sound knowledge of SHIP-SAN standards, monitoring, recording, operating procedures and practices
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a constantly challenging environment
