Washington University in St Louis is hiring an Associate Director of Finance and Accounting to join the Brown School. This remote position is responsible for managing the budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, and accounting operations to ensure compliance and accurate reporting in support of all departments at the Brown School.
What You'll Do
- Oversee Financial Analysts’ preparation and distribution of financial reporting packages to Associate Deans and Directors.
- Work with stakeholders to evaluate departments’ reporting needs and identify opportunities to expand standard financial reporting.
- Lead quarterly meetings with Associate Deans and Directors to discuss budgetary issues and communicate financial status.
- Manage the Annual Budget Submission, advising on University and School guidelines to ensure compliance and alignment with strategic goals.
- Manage entry and balancing of departments’ budgets in the School’s budget workbook and the University’s budget system.
- Oversee document processing needs related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, and contracts.
- Review and approve unrestricted and restricted transactions for compliance with Brown and University policies.
- Work with departments to establish and maintain acceptable business practices and effective internal controls.
- Review school-wide purchasing activities to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Provide guidance and training to direct reports and new employees on University and Brown School systems, policies and procedures.
- Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to discuss work-related issues.
- Work with direct reports to create individual personal development plans and provide guidance for successful performance.
- Perform formal annual reviews and informal semi-annual reviews for direct reports.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
- 5 years of experience in Accounting and Financial Analysis, or Budgets, Human Resources and Administrative Management.

- Compensation range: $65,900.00 - $112,700.00 annually.
