Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, is hiring an Associate Director, Environmental Health & Safety. You will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, maintenance, oversight, and governance of environment, health, and safety (EHS) programs within your scope. Your focus will be on Process Safety, taking action to minimize risks to employees and facilities while reducing the company's environmental footprint.
What You'll Do
- Think strategically to align deliverables with broader organizational goals and create awareness of this direction in support of Process Safety management.
- Monitor external trends and practices to facilitate continuous improvements with long-term business value.
- Monitor regulatory requirements and enforcement trends, conduct impact analyses, and implement and monitor compliance action plans.
- Identify organizational issues, develop and recommend viable alternatives to support the EHS strategy, and create new models or systems to apply to problems.
- Develop and report key performance indicators on EHS program implementation.
- Summarize and report compliance status, strengths, priority issues, and recommendations to various management levels, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Provide leadership and direction to direct staff through teamwork, empowerment, coaching, and development; manage team performance to meet organizational objectives.
- Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to represent EHS objectives and meet the team's strategic objectives.
- Represent the site and AbbVie externally on EHS matters with regulatory agencies and non-government organizations.
- Maintain a broad understanding of local, regional, and global EHS regulations and practices for your area of responsibility.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree (EHS related or Engineering) plus 10+ years of EHS related experience or a Master's Degree (EHS related or Engineering) plus 8-10 years of EHS related experience.
- EHS related experience in manufacturing or R&D environments is required.
- Working experience implementing EHS regulations, conducting incident investigations, interacting with regulatory agencies and external organizations, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Ability to plan against business targets, review and approve plans developed by other areas, and balance resources to achieve key targets.
- Ability to define problem scope and magnitude, provide rapid assessment, coordinate response, present short-and long-term options, and develop procedures to minimize re-occurrence.
- Ability to actively listen, build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external colleagues, and resolve conflict.
- Ability to create a motivating environment, make decisions, influence outcomes, negotiate to achieve agreements, and successfully represent EHS in decision situations.
- Ability to successfully manage projects and programs.
Nice to Have
- EHS Professional certification is preferred, but not required.
