Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, is looking for an Associate Director, Environmental Health & Safety to manage the development, implementation, and governance of environment, health, and safety programs. This role is critical for minimizing risk to employees and facilities, reducing the company’s environmental footprint, with a primary focus on Process Safety management.
What You'll Do
- Think strategically to align deliverables with broader organizational goals and create awareness for Process Safety management.
- Visualize beyond short-term deliverables, monitor external trends, and facilitate continuous improvements with long-term business value.
- Monitor regulatory requirements and enforcement trends, conduct impact analyses, and implement action plans for compliance.
- Identify organizational issues and root causes to develop and recommend viable alternatives that support the EHS strategy.
- Develop and report key performance indicators on EHS program implementation.
- Summarize and report compliance status, priority issues, and recommendations to various management levels and ensure corrective action implementation.
- Provide leadership and direction to direct staff through teamwork, empowerment, coaching, and development; manage team performance to meet organizational objectives.
- Lead and/or participate on cross-functional teams to represent EHS objectives and meet strategic deliverables.
- Represent the site and AbbVie externally on EHS matters with regulatory agencies and non-government organizations.
- Maintain a broad understanding of local, regional, and global EHS regulations and practices for your area of responsibility.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree (EHS related or Engineering) plus 10+ years of EHS experience, or a Master’s Degree plus 8-10 years of experience.
- EHS related experience in manufacturing or R&D environments is required.
- Working experience implementing EHS regulations, conducting incident investigations, interacting with regulatory agencies, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Ability to plan against business targets, review and approve plans from other areas, and balance resources to achieve key business targets.
- Ability to define problem scope, provide rapid assessment, coordinate response, present options, and develop procedures to minimize re-occurrence.
- Ability to actively listen, build effective working relationships, and resolve conflict.
- Ability to create a motivating environment, make decisions, influence outcomes, and negotiate while successfully representing EHS.
- Ability to successfully manage projects and programs.
Nice to Have
- EHS Professional certification is preferred, but not required.
