Responsibilities
- Lead depot-based transport personnel to carry out traffic plans and meet customer delivery expectations.
- Minimize unplanned maintenance and damage costs by utilizing vehicle records and daily spend tracking, collaborating with other depots.
- Guarantee all available vehicles are operational and reported for accurate resource planning.
- Foster team motivation and growth through active engagement, training initiatives, and individual development strategies.
- Verify all team members are properly trained and equipped for their roles.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory requirements within transport operations.
- Coordinate with external hauliers to resolve defects on trailers left for pre-loading.
- Review and authorize maintenance expenditure reports and associated invoices.
- Schedule and confirm timely completion of annual MOTs and routine servicing for all fleet assets.
- Oversee, evaluate, and manage third-party suppliers effectively.
- Represent the department in monthly customer meetings when the Transport Manager is unavailable.
- Facilitate internal communication through regular team updates and sharing of performance metrics.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to roll out service enhancements.
- Develop and apply innovative suggestions for workforce and process improvements to support ongoing optimization.
- Maintain a safe and secure working environment for all team members and across the wider site.
- Oversee budget elements related to vehicle maintenance and fuel, tracking key performance indicators and expenditures.
- Support environmental goals by helping reduce carbon emissions, such as through minimizing unnecessary mileage.
- Act on behalf of the Transport Manager when required.
