Repwest Insurance (a part of U-Haul family of companies) was looking for an Assistant General Counsel

U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies are looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our team. You will provide legal counsel to U-Haul and its related real estate companies, focusing on acquisitions, development, financings, and dispositions. You will assess legal exposure and provide clear advice to field personnel and senior management.

What You'll Do

  • Handle real estate transactions across the US and Canada, including acquisition documents, due diligence, easements, declarations, and construction agreements.
  • Review title and survey documents.
  • Collaborate with finance and real estate teams to negotiate, draft, and review loan documents for real estate financing transactions.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships.
  • Provide support for the leasing team.
  • Provide general legal advice to U-Haul field personnel on a wide variety of issues.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer certain contracts.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of transactional real estate experience.
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited school.
  • Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state and in good standing in all jurisdictions where licensed.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Must be willing to work in the office.

Nice to Have

  • Legal experience in-house or with a highly regarded law firm.
  • Experience with zoning laws and regulations.
