About the Role

This role involves managing legal aspects related to bankruptcy proceedings, advising internal teams on compliance and risk mitigation, and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee legal strategies in bankruptcy and insolvency cases
  • Collaborate with internal departments to assess financial and legal risks
  • Review and interpret bankruptcy codes and court rulings
  • Manage relationships with external counsel and legal advisors
  • Support restructuring initiatives involving distressed debt
  • Draft and negotiate legal documents related to bankruptcy filings
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state bankruptcy regulations
  • Provide legal guidance during creditor negotiations
  • Monitor developments in bankruptcy law and adjust practices accordingly
  • Assist in the evaluation of claims and asset recoveries
  • Prepare reports and briefings for senior management
  • Participate in cross-functional teams during financial reorganizations
  • Maintain accurate legal records and case documentation
  • Advise on implications of bankruptcy on contracts and agreements
  • Coordinate with collections and credit teams on case strategy
  • Identify potential legal exposures in bankruptcy scenarios
  • Support due diligence for acquisitions involving bankrupt entities
  • Ensure proper notice procedures in legal proceedings
  • Represent the organization in court-ordered mediation or hearings
  • Develop internal policies for handling bankruptcy-related matters
